History of the album
It's important to note that I HATE parts of this album, so there is danger of me removing it at any time. If you are a fan of my Def Author material, GRAB IT WHILE YOU CAN!
It was recorded in 2000 on a Tascam 4-track, and with only a couple of exceptions the beats were created on my Sony Playstation with the MTV Music Generator. This was my first experimentation with digital editing, and as a result, the beats were ridiculously sloppy in spots.
Amazingly enough, the beats for "#3 on the phone" and "Pals" were both created using nothing more than a double cassette deck! I just paused the tape I was recording on, hit rewind on the tape I was getting the beat from, and hit pause when the part I wanted came around. Repeat many times, and you too can get a semi-sloppy beat.
For being the year 2000, I think I was dangerously close to being nerdcore with some of these tracks. Is it any wonder that I freaked out when I heard "Gonna Be Your Man" by MC Frontalot?! It was like "Dude! I can relate to this SO MUCH!"
